Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping is an innovative technique that uses elastic tape to treat nerves, muscles and
organs. The Kinesio Tape is wrapped over and around your muscles to assist them, provide
them with support, or to prevent them from over-contracting.

Kinesio Taping helps activate your neurological, circulatory, and lymphatic system. That’s
because muscles don’t just move your body — they are vital in jumpstarting your body’s own
natural healing process. Your muscles play an integral part in regulating blood flow, body
temperature, and more. Health problems can follow quickly when your muscles aren’t working
right.

At NW Sports Rehab, you’ll find two kinds of Kinesio Taping. The first technique gives you
support while letting you keep your full range of motion. This Kinesio Taping method lets you
go about your normal physical activities with functional assistance.

The second Kinesio Taping technique, used mostly in the acute stage of rehabilitation, helps
prevent overuse or over-contraction of your muscles — stimulating your lymphatic system for
an entire 24-hour period (which can help prevent or decrease swelling or infection).

Kinesio Taping correctional techniques include:

  • Mechanical
  • Lymphatic
  • Ligament, tendon, or fascia
  • Space and functional

Kinesio Taping can also be used to complement other types of treatment — like acupuncture,
clinical massage therapy, and sports rehabilitation.
